Is it all PDF’s or just certain ones? When you go to print a PDF, go to the advanced button & select “Print as Image” - see if that helps.

Is this a password protected PDF? Not sure if it works like Office, but protected office documents cannot be printed until it is enabled.

none of the pdf’s are password protected and under “document properties” printing IS allowed
You need to press the Advanced button, not properties.

Nothing like an Adobe product to bring out the comments.
Ditto on the “print as image” suggestion. Also try single page print. Postscript drivers and options if it exists. Those three come to mind, as well as, a few of the suggestions listed here.

At worst, you could run process monitor (procmon) with filters to see where it hangs up on the local machine.
If it helps…

Ashton, tried those things and no luck Thanks for the suggestions…
Dan, the problem happens no matter who is logged in…(remember it happens to 2 computers)…
Frustrating!..maybe it is because I have version 8? I know that 9 is the latest version…but as i said the problem happens even if i try to print pdf’s using other non adobe programs such as fox it reader

Carlos - I could probably throw out ideas all afternoon, so I hope I’m not wasting your time. It seems like its not a document issue as it occurs on all .pdfs and print as image didn’t work. You’ve tried different drivers, so that shouldn’t be it. I don’t think it has anything to to do with Acrobat 8 as I can print fine from my version 8, all though it certainly wouldn’t hurt to verify you have the latest updates in. My sense is registry or spooler. So here is couple more suggestions. Easiest to hardest.
Stop/Start printer spooler service.
See if problem occurs printing to file, using Adobe, Foxit, PDF reDirect, or CutePDF.
Uncheck the the Print and Document Services feature in the Programs and Features applet, reboot, and recheck.
Check the service dependencies in HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Spooler registry key and compare with working machine.
Run Process Monitor. Capture just when you print the pdf. Find acrobat.exe, right click, and select include. That will clean out the rest of the entries. Compare against a working machine or take note of entries not labeled success to perhaps point you in the right direction. I’ve been lucky with this before.
Just a few ideas…
