Hey SpiceHeads! We’re happy to announce the hotels with discounted rates for SpiceWorld Austin , Sept. 15-17, 2020 (T-Th). Be sure to book your hotel room as soon as possible! These discounted rates are good through early August, or until they sell out - which they do!

Pro-Tip: Looking to come to Austin a few days early or stay a few days after the event outside of the SpiceWorld event dates? It’s best to call the hotel directly to see if they’re able to extend the discount rate for you. While we can’t promise they’ll be able to, calling is usually your best shot.

I’m betting that more than a few people are waiting for the completion of the Atari Hotel.

I am trying to book a room for my self (It-pro) and my guest (non-IT pro), we want separate rooms. However it only allows me to make reservations for 1 person.

I tried to make 2 separate reservations, and it says I already have a reservation in place.

I am guessing that I need to just call them to make two people reservations under SpiceWorld 2020, but thought I would check here before expending the effort.

Any run into this?

I tried with:

and ran into this issue of only having 1 person able to make a reservation.

We don’t want to share a room.

I’ll be staying with a friend in the area so don’t need to book a hotel, but seeing these posts gets me excited!

Wowzers, I swear the Holiday Inn was a lot cheaper last year. Oh well, boss says I can’t go this year anyways…they had to tighten the purse strings juuuuust a bit.

That’s frustrating! Your best bet is to call the hotel directly. In the meantime, I’ll reach out to our contact there to see if I can more information.

Flight and hotel booked! Even managed to get the same hotel as last year, which was a great stay. I’m going to try to be more social this year.

Just a little nugget…

OK, Got the hotel booked, had to go with a different hotel.

Apparently Marriott Austin Downtown does not allow 1 person to book two separate rooms at the SPW 2020 discounted rate. for two people. (Makes no sense to me but whatever…) To get the discount they both must share 1 room. If one person wishes to book two separate rooms, one will be at discount, and one will be full room price. Unless each books separately and on separate charge cards. I can’t do that and be able to expense it ,so decided to change to a different hotel on the SPW2020 discount list, and they had NO problem with one person booking/reserving two separate rooms. So they got my business! LOL

On to choosing a flight…or at least getting budgetary quotes for a flight. Since I might want to book the flight closer to the date.

Thank you reporting back, Brian. I’m sorry that was such a process for you. I did get a response from our Marriott Downtown Austin contact - the good news is that we learned you can book more than one room, but you just can’t book them at the same time. It sounds like their system is a little finicky… you would need to book one room, get the confirmation number, and then book the next room.

If anyone else runs into any problems like this, please let me know!
