I have a really strange issue that I just discovered. I now have a few Windows 10 machines that don’t have the option to lock them. When you go Start/Account you see the options to Change account settings, switch user and sign out but not lock. When you hit Windows key + L nothing happens. When you hit ctrl+alt+delete lock is not an option. I built out a couple of Windows 10 machines from scratch and they do have the lock option. I just noticed that the ones we are currently cloning don’t have that option.

I thought it might be a GPO issue. I compared the GPO settings on a machine that had the lock option and one that didn’t. The one that couldn’t lock didn’t have the registry key of Folder Id: Software\\Policies\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Control Panel\\Desktop\\ScreenSaverIsSecure so I added it. It is now showing up but I still don’t have the option.

I have been comparing my machine with the other machine so I thought it might be a permissions issue since I am in a different group. (My personal login does NOT have admin rights.) I looked at another user who has Windows 10 who is in the same groups as the new computer user and she has the lock option.

Everything I have found online so far is correct on the computer. After adding the registry key that was missing did you go through GPO and re-enable the lock settings?

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization

Do Not Display The Lock Screen

I found this info on the guide at the following website:
