Good Afternoon,
What do you use for Microsoft Certification test preparation? What seems to work the best for you? I have a membership for PluralSight and it is very helpful but I’ve seen some courses on CBT that look to be a better fit for some of the certs I’m going for at the moment.
Do you use an outline for your studying? Some kind of plan?
Thanks! Just wanted to see how you Spiceheads do it!

Great question for the Spiceworld! I have a question for you, how do you learn best? That will help everyone give you advice of what types of training to look into because when it all comes down to it, you are the one who wants to be successful with the certification!

CBT Nuggets is great, but you may also want to check out Microsoft E-Learning or TestOut which offer virtual labs. Best of luck.

Here is what works for me.
Step 1 - Read 1 book (while following along with labs)
Step 2 - Watch 1 series of videos (while still following along with labs),
Step 3 - Practice testing (researching all the stuff from the practice tests that I didn’t see anywhere else)
Step 4 - Last minute cram session
Step 5 - Take test

Thanks Everyone! I appreciate the input. I find I do the same steps that Daryl lists out! It seems to work but it’s so tempting to just watch the videos, practice in the labs then cram. I wish it just didn’t take soooo long haha

Well, it sounds like you may want to check out something more interactive to keep you engaged! If you want to check out KnowledgeNet’s 7-day free trial you can see if it could work for you learning style. I know CBT Nuggets has free trials too, so by all means, check them all out and see where you get the most info!

I think pluralsights is easier to work with than CBT Nuggets - i found the CBT nuggest stuff very dry, and sleep inducing. Thats jsut my personal preference though, it’s best if you use the free trials and see for yourself.
If you;'re going for MS exams then working through the official training books is a good start - but it won’t cover everything.
Make use of the MS Virtual Academy for free training, www.microsoftvirtualacademy.com/
Lastly, don’t take the test until you can ace several practice tests, and understand why the right answer is the right answer.

I’d encourage you to give everyone’s free trial a try and see which platform best fits your training style. Here’s our 10-day trial.
Good luck & feel free to ping me with any questions.

I enjoy CBT Nuggets. The instructors are great and the variable speed video playback is invaluable to me. I haven’t tested on my training yet, so I can’t say how well it has prepared me just yet. I do wish they had virtual labs like some other services I looked at.
