It’s pretty cheap. Who knows how good it is. But at that price, might be worth finding out.

two months of PluralSight would be cheaper, though.

their website is a little ghetto, but the course outline looks legit

pluralsight looks interesting, seems the $49/mo plan would make the most sense since it has assessments, the $29/mo doesn’t. the career acadamey training is for 12 months. I want good training for sure though, that’s more important than saving a few bucks.

im also tempted to just pay the $3k to go to one of those 5 day cert boot camps where you learn and then get the cert at the end of it. in my experience though, cramming isn’t a great way to learn.

This is really tempting. Hopefully some of the spiceheads gives us some insight here.

Study guides for all of those certs are available for free at my local library.

Bought a similar package from IT University (there was a deal on groupon as well) for Cisco certifications just to check if can get something useful. Was a complete waste of money.

Here’s a page with course demos for all 3:

How so, Kris? Also, are these online courses a ‘go at your own pace’ type of deal?

I’m suspect of the fact that it’s 95% off. Why would they essentially be giving this away, not charging the $1,500 they normally would?

If you have the spare money, it probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to give it a go. Definitely check out http://www.professormesser.com/ as well if you haven’t already, he’s got extensive videos covering those three CompTIA certs for free.

not really the same thing as a study book. it has video lectures, demonstrations and assessments as well

why was it a waste of money?

thats a valid point, but ive bought a lot of super discounted stuff on groupon before and always been satisfied. theyre only offering this package on groupon, they could be trying to get people in by selling this package super cheap and then try and sell you more packages once youre familiar with their system maybe? i just checked out his site, good resource! thanks

okay, i bought it. i’ll let you guys know how it goes. its only got 12hrs left to buy

seems pretty good so far, only thing i dont like about it is the reviews at the end of sections are only 4 or 5 questions. lectures are concise and interesting with necessary visuals. so far, i think it was worth the money

Yea, I had been going through the videos for some of the CISCO stuff at IT University, I kind of feel it’s not the right thing for me. I’m a read a book type person. Having someone else slowly explaining everything with presentation is ok but I’m quite bored listening and watching stuff I already know from about 20 previously read books from when I was in grade school.

Hopefully when I get to sit down and watch some more, I can get out of the basic stuff and move on to advanced stuff.

Pluralsight’s assessments are only 11 questions long for, say, Part 1 of 3 of Network+. You won’t find practice exams there either, just some PPT slides you can print off for taking notes.

Just use Professor Messer .com for his free videos and if you want study guides and practice questions, he has all of that available. Save a buck or 69.

If you want CCENT, CCNA, etc training, google Chris Bryant on UDemy and you can purchase, for about $29, an entire stream of his Boot Camp’s…you know, the kind you pay thousands of dollars for.

We do have A+, Network+ and CCNA training available. With the $49/month you get access to exercise files, offline viewing and assessments. You can try out a free 10-day trial here , and feel free to contact me with any questions.

Good luck!

We use Career Academy like all training you get out of it what you put into it. Have not used a lot of other online training but it is nice because they have virtual lab through the browser. I have different package though. http://www.careeracademy.com/network_engineer_training_library.aspx

It comes with Videos, Practice labs and Measureup.com.

There are a bunch of other sites like Chris bryant, CBTNuggets, CertificationKits, Wendell Odem. YouTube, FreeCCNAStudyGuide, that all offer free training that looks comparable to what is listed here.
