We’ve encountered an issue where printing from Google Chrome intermittently stops working across multiple Windows 11 machines. The problem appears to be related to the “Print Management App” (PrintQueue 1.0.2.0) introduced by Windows, which overrides the traditional print dialogue in Chrome.

Symptoms:

  • Ctrl+P launches the print dialogue box.
  • Print jobs stall and sit in Print Queue 1.0.2.
  • Using Ctrl+Shift+P (to force classic print dialogue) works consistently.
  • The issue is isolated to Chrome, Or related to print queue 1.0.2

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

  • Attempted to remove the “PrintQueue” app via PowerShell, but removal was unsuccessful. These are not domained or enrolled devices.
  • Investigated default apps settings — PrintQueue is locked as the print handler.
  • Observed that uninstalling updates or switching to legacy print dialogue may help but is not always feasible in a non-managed enviroment.

Current Workaround:

  • Advising users to use Ctrl+Shift+P in Chrome to access the classic print dialogue.

Next Steps:

Looking into group policy options or Chrome flags to disable the modern print dialogue.
Monitoring Microsoft updates for a permanent fix or rollback of the PrintQueue app.

3 Spice ups

Have you tried using Edge, by chance? Since it’s built on Chromium, users shouldn’t have issues switching over, at least until it’s fixed. Otherwise, rolling back the print queue app is probably your next best option.
