Cold Call From (False) Spiceworks Partner

Today I received a cold call from 'Freshworks," another company under the Ziff Davis umbrella.

I believe the call was from a legit company but I do not like it. Viewing advertisements while accessing the Spiceworks community is one thing. Having yet another vendor interrupt my day with a cold call is quite another.

Bad form Spiceworks, bad form.

Edit: It sounds like the caller was full of BS. No fault or foul on Spiceworks’ part.

I don’t believe Freshworks is part of Ziff Davis. Is this the company you’re referring to?

Honestly, I give up my info as part of Spiceworld and have had someone call me (voicemail) and say they know I visited their booth and wanted to reach out to me. I did not visit them.

I am 99.9% they are not a part of Ziff Davis but I do believe we’ve worked with them in the past. I did a little Google-Fu to see if they’ve been mentioned or done anything in the Community over the last year but not seeing anything: freshworks site:community.spiceworks.com

Normally, when we run across something like this, it’s via something from SpiceWorld (doubt that’s the case since this year’s hasn’t occurred and last year’s was almost a year ago), a contest or webinar they’ve run through us (but I don’t believe they have this year much less lately).

If you have any more details, I can dig a bit further.

I didn’t receive cold calls lately. But as far as your doubts are concerned, I received some emails where exhibitors and presenters of past Spiceworld are contacting me in their preparation for this years Spiceworld and invite me to arrange a meeting during Spiceworld.
