We just completed upgrading our Access Points in our LA and NY offices. We setup the access points so that our staff can access the “staff” wireless which is on our primary ISP and a “guest” wireless that is on our backup ISP.

We are looking to allow our staff to use the “guest” wireless for streaming music, movies, etc., but dont want to rely on “common sense” usage.

What policy do you have in place in your organization and would you be willing to share your template?

Not looking to rewrite one, but our employee handbook covers internet usage and is light on wireless access.

Many thanks for any assistance.

I would just Google Internet Acceptable Usage Policy example and you’ll finds all sorts of written policies. It really depends on the nature of your industry as to what type of policy you want to set out.

Simple.

“Using the staff network to upload, download, stream or share internet content that is not directly linked to business communications is gross misconduct and may lead to immediate dismissal. Any such communication should be transmitted over the guest network. Excessive use or abuse of this facility may result in the service being withdrawn from staff and disciplinary action being taken. Uploading or downloading of inappropriate content is strictly forbidden and may lead to immediate dismissal.”
