I had this fabulous response typed in, but the system told me I wasn’t a registered user. By the time I logged back in, I couldn’t get back to my response. Oh well. I’ll try to recover it as best as my memory will allow…

When I first received the email from Ben, I was in the process of completely removing Spiceworks (again), this time I did a registry clean in between the installs. I had not done that the first time. It took a while, but by this time, I was able to get the standard new version to run.

I noticed the change from 80 to 9675 right away. Thanks, Peter.

When I tried to recover my data from yesterday’s backup, I was unable to log in so I had to reset my password. Once I did that, I can now get to my info. I’m just leery at this point that it will do what it did this afternoon. I will reboot and test a little bit more before I write it off as a closed issue, but it looks ok so far…

{"@type":"Person
clabedz
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/clabedz"}},{"@type":"Answer

Sorry. I was a little impatient and angry. When I had an issue last time, Peter was helpful and suggested the registry cleaning, which helped my alert issue. That is why I gave it one more try. I installed 5.1 Beta III on my test server a few days ago and it ran a few times ok (with a few alert issues). The problem now is that I get the splash startup screen and it never starts up. I have rebooted and it won’t start up. I tried reinstalling and it doesn’t work either.
I am stuck looking at the attached picture. It does show the server name on port 80. What’s up and how do I fix it? The motto of “if all else fails reboot (or reinstall)” has failed me and I am disappointed in my 5.1 Beta experience so far…

I had to uninstall, clean the registry, and reinstall. The first time with just running the reinstall did not do the trick. I haven’t experienced the same difficulty as before. I noticed that the windows start up differently than they did previously. The window that I captured with the address:port does not come up anymore, so hopefully it won’t hang again.
Thanks, Ben.
