Hello,

Can anyone can show me which solution to convert a physical server in Ubuntu (Linux) to VHDX please ?

I found Disk2vhd and StarWind but these solutions work only in Windows.

Thank you !

One option is to use a backup solution that supports restore to a VM. so you backup the physical and restore to a vm.

You could use dd to convert your install to an image, the use vBoxManage to a Virtualbox machine - then convert it from that to VHDx.

You can use VMware convertor to convert it from physical to a VMware image, then use Hyper-V to convert that to VHDx

If you use Veeam, you can back it up, then export it as a VM.

Naviko B&R will also do this, backup a physical machine, then restore it as a VM

Try Veeam Agent:

Install, create rescue media, take image of entire system.

Create new VM with VHDX big enough for the image, boot the VM to the rescue media you made, make sure storage with the image is also attached to the VM, restore.

You can test it all without committing to anything.

Hey,

As mentioned, you can use dd to convert Linux installation to image and then convert it to vhdx using StarWind V2V Converter. Check our help for the conversion guidance:

Feel free to DM me if you have any questions regarding the conversion.
