Hey all,

I have a failover hyper-v cluster and i want to host another fail-over cluster inside of hyper-v (I want a fail-over file server). How do i go about giving two VM’s access to the same disk for quorum? (I have a MD3600i iscsi SAN).

Do i create a new virtual switch and give the two VM’s network access on to my ISCSI fabric to get access to a disk from the SAN?

Or do I setup ISCSI server on one of the file servers and give the other one access?

Or am I completely missing something simple? :slight_smile:

i’m not sure if that’s supported or not, you are also missing a few elements, and putting dependencies on Specific NIC’s,

but you could just make another LUN on the SAN, and connect that as your CSV and then configure clustering on the VM’s, but Last i was aware (a year or so ago) that was not supported by Microsoft

I think the moral of the story is, if I’ve already have a hyper-v fail-over cluster running, there’s no need to create one inside of it. Thanks guys.

I’ve run MS file clusters on top of VMware (requires you setup perenial reservations). Not sure of how to do it on Hyper-V or if its supported.
