We currently have a 2040 pro that we would like to replace. Trying to decide between a NSA 240 or NSA 2400. Both seem to be large jumps in throughput and connections/sec versus our current device. Are there any usability differences between the 240 or 2400? From sonicwalls site it looks like the 2400 is just a higher powered version of 240.

Hey IT Joe,

Quick note, the NSA 240 is no longer available. It has been moved to end of like and replaced by the NSA 220 .

If you don’t need more than 25 site-to-site VPN tunnels then I would say go with the NSA 220 Secure Upgrade Model (you can trade in your old 2040)

Here is a quick technical comparison of the NSA models .

The other item to consider is the number of TCP sessions you need (big difference between the 220 and 2400.) You can login to your current 2040 and see your “max used” tcp session on the system status screen to get an idea.

Hope this is helpful.

I am currently using a NSA3500 and have used a 5000 the NSA line is very solid. Look at your current bandwidth and possible future needs and that will help determine which model you will need.

I am not sure what you level of comfort with Cisco is but I have recently looked at their new ASA line and it gives Sonicwall a run for its money.

Lastly remember that Sonicwall has been acquired by Dell that could be for better or for worse.

I recently went from the 2040 pro to the NSA 220w.

I love the the 220. It has many great features. Is easy to config. I have not noticed it getting over loaded. The cpu is normally at low load. We felt the 220 was enough. The price just to the 240 wasn’t huge but we did not need the big jump in bandwidth.

I have noticed that the settings cannot be exported from the 2040 to the 220. You reconfigured everything manually?
