Ok, it can’t just be me can it?

for at least the last 2 1/2 weeks, my daily question has been based on Linux

I am not, have never been and never likely to be interested in Linux beyond using a couple of tools. As such I gave up answering Linux questions - now all I get is Linux questions?!

I used to enjoy answering the daily challenge when at least some of the questions were relevant to me.

Am I stuck in a loop - unless I answer Linux questions, all I’ll get is Linux questions?

Can I say Linux again?

No I don’t think you’re stuck in a loop, you will escape them shortly

We all seem to get runs of specific subject matter questions, probably to do with the level of difficulty you’re at in the DC and the number of unanswers questions in your pool (i.e ones you haven’t answered yet). I think if you’ve been doing well you get exposure to more of the harder questions, unfortunately it seems many of the questions in the harder category are linux (or coding language) based, rather than windows.

Don’t worry though, you will break out of the loop

can I have a few easy questions … eg

Your colleague asks if you would like a coffee?

a) yes, your cup is empty

b) yes, you’ve just finished a bit of coding and need a break

c) yes, you’re about to start a long job

d) no, you’ve still got some coffee in the bottom of your cup.

hint: coffee cups need to be kept full.

you could at least have had one option in there that mentioned java !

and i’d also have an option of

“no - coffee is a completely disgusting subsance, which must be the work of satan” - which is the correct answer

at this stage, coffee is fine … I’m still trying to catch up from a very_long weekend - purely pleasure, but knackering!

It happens frequently. I get stuck with Linux, Cisco, and VOIP questions all the time. Since I don’t care at all about any of them and “learning” doesn’t help my career, I just pick the top left answer and move on.

I’ve griped about it in the past as well, but there’s nothing that can be done about it.

I also try to stay out of the comments section since it’s nothing but everyone whining and complaining, but it’s hard and I get drawn in where I do the whining and complaining!

So far as I am aware, the question you get each day is a random one from the question bank. WIth so many questions in the bank, you might see this (although I’d suggest it is kind of rare).

2 1/2 weeks of Linux questions? - it’d be interesting to know what %age of questions are Linux!

This has been mentioned a number of times and the consensus is you just have to burn through them. There doesn’t seem to be a good randomness algorithm, so it seems you get stuck in loops. And not just Linux; you’ll come across “Programming” and “Database” loops eventually if you have not already, and they do seem to last as long as two weeks, though 2.5 weeks seems pretty long.

Isn’t there a Badge for “I survived the Daily Challenge Linux Questions Outbreak”?

Here was my own wee run… The shrinking Question pool - Powershell and Linux

yay - a question on PING …

the BADbeef one? I’m wrestling with that one just now

got that today too - after my brain melted, the hint kind of helped, but only just

It didn’t help me. I found the question pointless

Yes, it was more of a trick question thinking most people would select the “can’t ping a hex address” option
