Dell R620 - DVD & iDRAC

My servers are in a colo and I can’t remember if they have DVD drives in them. I’ve gone thru every page in iDRAC and can’t find where they might be hiding. Can anyone point me in the right direction and save me a 2 hour drive?

I don’t believe it will. I just looked at the hardware inventory on my R720’s iDRAC, and it listed pretty much everything except the DVD drive. It has one installed, though.

Your best bet is to look up the service tag on Dell’s site, and it’ll tell you the original hardware config. The iDRAC will tell you the service tag under System.

i just found that i can find it using esx and looking at the devices. thanks though. weird dell wouldnt put that in idrac.

It is probably a limitation on drac7. Good thing though, DRAC can emulate DVD drives with isos

The R620’s I look after don’t have DVD drives. Do you need a DVD drive for any reason?

I was going to do something with a linux liveCD, but found another solution. I know the virtual media is an option, however I just thought it would be easier to burn it. Not an issue now though, thanks all.

Virtual media is by far the easier option.
