Is there any spice heads that support Dental offices on a regular basis?

The different software like
Dentrix
Eagle soft
Open Dental
etc…

The dental it support arena seems to be less strict about security passwords, email, equipment is this what you all have dealt with?

The dentist seem to be cheap when it comes to IT but I have been reading where Hipaa is going to get more strict with Dental offices as well what kind of a check list do you use for Dental client so they are hipaa compliant?

What hardware firewalls , switches , access point , workstaions do you use and recommend?

Do you know if any of the Dental EMR are not compatible with Win 11 pro yet?

Any issues with doing inplace upgrade?

How will this efffect hipaa if they dont upgrade to win 11 before win 10 goes eol in October?

Any and all suggestions from you experience greatly appreciated

Have you signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement with the Dental Office? If so, HIPAA should not be compromised.

Make sure you have a copy of all of the software that is in use. Pull one machine and do an in-place upgrade. How did it turn out? Are all drivers resolved? Can you find drivers to make the machine work? Does the Dental Software still work as it should?

Are the Win 10 machines compatible with Win 11? That might be a licensure sticking point. Can the Dental Office afford to replace machines if need be?

I don’t, but I am thinking as soon as they ask a patient if they are allergic to any anesthesia or have high blood pressure, they are holding medical information that HIPPA covers, so they should certainly be at least aware of the implications…

I know a lot of the satellite clinics around here that do outpatient tests thought it didn’t apply to them, and were somewhat unpleasantly surprised when they got slapped…

How will this effect hipaa if they dont upgrade to win 11 before win 10 goes eol in October?

Badly - it is specifically addressed in the rules:

"Healthcare providers must keep their software, systems, and devices up to date to protect patient data "

…and then there are the liability issues…

Do you have another link? That one is not working.

It still works, but it has some kind of signup nag window now, it times
out in 30 seconds or so and goes to the link…sorry…not responsible
for clueless web designers…
(usually avoid posting links like this, it fooled me)

Hey,
So I supported several dental offices over time. I had one on a regular contract that wanted it all taken care of, so to keep matters simple I actually talked to them and made sure that they understood that we needed to be fully HIPPA and all the other stuff, compliant. We had EagleSoft onsite along with some other stuff. Each user had a domain in place, each user had a unique logon, for any and all software used. Used a sonicwall at their location with regular pen testing and Acronis for a-v, backup, monitoring and remote support. We currently run Windows 11 and did an eagle soft update in place with no issues. We are currently looking at moving to Eagle Soft online or another software. HTH
