Hello all. I’m trying to deploy software via Group policy but receive the following error when adding the .msi to the GPO: “Add operation failed. Unable to extract deployment information from the package. Run validation on the package to ensure that the package is correct”

-I’ve confirmed the server is able to access the shared drive (tried multiple shares to confirm)

-I am able to use the .msi to manually install on a machine.

-I tried the same steps on the DC server itself with the same results

Any idea on what could be causing this?

Thanks!

{"@type":"Person
{"@type":"Answer

Do you have “Authenticated Users” in the security permissions for the folder containing the msi?

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

Where did the MSI come from? That error suggests that it’s not an MSI in the format that Microsoft expect.

Also, what OS are you trying to deploy it from?

{"@type":"Person
Gary-D-Williams
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/Gary-D-Williams"}},{"@type":"Answer
