Convert what format to what format, or what codec does it use?

Some old Samsung DVR video in .bu format. I want to convert it to anything that can be viewalble on Windows. I dont have to even convert it just want to view it on Windows.

You dont have the Samsung SmartView program that recorded them?

No

I’ve used bigasoft in the past

If you want to try and convert them and they are not too big, you can do so online without downloading software, not sure if they support bu files though

Yes cool. i saw that one. I noticed this post as well cicever.com

Thats why I posted the question. I want to ensure I dont download malware etc.

did you have luck with bigsoft to view or convert bu files?

I dont have any bu files.

If you use Windows 10 1803 or newer, enable the sanbox feature and try it in there first.

I am confused…you said you used bigsoft to convert bu files?

No, I said I have used bigsoft in the past, I never mentioned for bu files explicitly.

I was simply saying I have used the program - the rest of the content you added yourself.

To clarify;

gotcha. Sorry i misread it my bad.

We all do it, I just wanted to be clear that I only said I’ve used the product before.

I also wanted to ask you i was looking online for samples of du files for testing purposes. there are some sites that have sample files but usually only mp4, avi etc

no idea, sorry

its ok. thank you for the info anyway.

It depends. If you don’t have an AV solution, you obviously can’t check while downloading. If the edition of your AV solution is a pure AV solution, it can’t check while downloading although it may check after you downloaded (before you roll out). If the edition of your AV solution is broader than just pure AV solution, it might even check while downloading. Some editions will be able to do some preliminary check before downloading which may be an indicative risk indicator but no substitute for AV cheching. And why do you want to limit those checks on exe-files instead of the whole download?

I have AV running on my machine. Reason why because virus might spread during run of executable

Am I being too basic, or can’t you just right click and scan with WD? It didn’t appear OP was asking about what to use so much as how to check if what he downloads is virus-free.

When I have a questionable exe file I scan it at virustotal.com.

In standard edition of Windows defender, it cannot check for virus while downloading as requested by OP, only after the download finished.

That’s an option not available while downloading as requested by OP. It is available before and after downloading.
