We want to move one of our clients from DropBox for business to Office 365 (OneDrive / Sharepoint / Group setting).

They already have Office 365 Business premium.

The way it is setup at the moment is that there is one main folder in Dropbox with three admins and People get added for access.

How does this work with Office 365 / what is the best practice?
I know that microsoft doesn’t recommend to share files from a personal onedrive account.

Should we create a simple company sharepoint site and add people there. Or is there a Group which should be created and add people there?

Any ideas / suggestions / experiences?

Its for around 30 people

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

Sharepoint or Groups is going to share the same allotment of storage (1 TB plus a little bit per account) and it’s basically the same functionality. So I’d use that for shared docs.

Then each user should have their own stuff in their Onedrive for Business stash. Map their Documents library there to be extra fancy.

With the newest sync client you can add the Sharepoint (or Groups) libraries right on the sidebar of Explorer, so mapped drive letters aren’t necessary, and it’s much easier to re-train people how to get to the docs.

{"@type":"Person
johnmeredith3839
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/johnmeredith3839"}},{"@type":"Answer

OneDrive for Business is terrible. Pay more for Dropbox and stick with it. The forced legacy folder/file limits are bad, constant sync issues, the entire client refusing to sync and bug out.

Microsoft have been promising fixes for years but they have done precious little. Too much legacy bobbins with SharePoint and Groove under the hood to make it good.

OneDrive personal? What the heck, so much better! Yes different product, no legacy hang ups, Yes it is just like all the competition.

I wish MS would create two editions. One for the SharePoint fans and one for the rest of us who just want to do file sharing like every other file sharing app out there. Easy sharing, easy collaboration.

Microsoft have zero incentive to fix OneDrive for Business because its bundled in with 365. If it was a stand alone product people bought outside of all the other tools, the poor sales might make them go for it, as it stands, I can’t see after 5 years of mediocre rubbish Microsoft finally gets it right.

Big fan of 365, big fan of everything else, OneDrive is the terrible cousin.

{"@type":"Person
breffni
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/breffni"}},{"@type":"Answer

We haven’t found that at all. The older synch clients were certainly dreadful but the last couple are great. We have happily moved some users off of Dropbox onto OneDrive/Sharepoint and had no issues at all.

Personally after some utterly dreadful support from Dropbox I can’t wait to be rid of them!

{"@type":"Person
mattpalmer9135
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/mattpalmer9135"}},{"@type":"Answer
