We just deployed a fleet of thin clients running Windows 10 2019 LTSC. Got them joined to Intune/Azure so that our users can log in. For some reason though none of the Icons are showing up on their desktop. And Im talking about just the desktop icons for default programs like Microsoft Edge, VMWare Horizon client, etc. Does know anyone know how to potentially fix this?

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

Maybe there is something in the intune configuration profiles that is preventing icons from appearing on desktops? have a look at them and just make sure that they arent blocking anything. Since these clients are also possibly managed via GPOs I would also make sure that isnt any GPOs that is doing the same as above.

On one of the thin clients, try right-clicking on the desktop, and selecting So I realized that the Public Desktop folders was completely empty. If I re-deploy a program it does pop up on the desktop though. I ended up just creating a script with the help of chatgpt to detect if certain desktop icons are missing and create them if so. Personalize
, then go to
Themes
and click on
Desktop icon settings
to ensure that the icons like ‘Computer’, ‘Network’, ‘Recycle Bin’, and others are checked to be visible. Maybe try and re-deploy apps like Edge or Horizon to see if they appear then too.

{"@type":"Person
stefan-pulseway
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/stefan-pulseway"}},{"@type":"Answer
