We currently have a hybrid environment with all of our devices joined to a local domain controller. We are testing out joining devices to Entra and slowly getting things built out. I’m looking for any advice on the recommended route or assigning a “primary user” vs removing a primary user. From what I have read by other users, removing a primary user sets it as a "shared device. I would guess that 70% of our machines are shared computers that can have 3-20 users sign into them throughout the day. I can’t find any documentation from Microsoft saying what scenarios to do this in or why. All I have found from them is explaining that no user means shared device. Can anyone tell me if they are assigning primary users and advantages/disadvantages. Thank You.

Managing the primary user has not really had any notable effect on our environment. In previous positions, I maintained that pretty stringently, making sure all changes were passed through me, so that I could update that field myself. However, it’s not kept up here, and most are just left as the IT tech who setup the machine, and it’s not been an issue in this environment…YMMV.
