ESET Protect (Server): V9.0.1144.0

ESET Protect (Web Console): V9.0.138.0

Hello ESET community, I am encountering an error every time I attempt to update my ESET Protect server. After applying the update the web console goes down (obviously) but after about 20 minutes once the console comes back it gives me this error when I attempt to login: “Login failed: Connection ahs failed with state “Not connected””

I remoted into the virtual server running the SQL server and ESET server and found that the ESET Protect Server service was stuck in a state of “stopping”. After waiting about 30 more minutes I finally decided to shutdown the server in hopes it would restart the service and allow me access to the web console (I had backups in place :wink: ). Once the server rebooted I was able to get back into the web console, but the update never happened. I am still on the same version as I was before. Anybody experience this before or have issues updating?

Hello there! I’ve ran into this issue multiple times. Typically I’ve forced the ESET Protect service to stop, if I stopped it quick enough, the upgrade continues and completes itself. There have been a couple times where I’ve had to tell the server to run the upgrade again. It then runs and completes the upgrade as expected.

I think you can pause it on the Web Console. I will try to pause the ESET protection and see if it allows me to update!

Pausing the protection from ESET did not resolve the problem and the ESET Protection Server service was still stuck “stopping”. Once I pushed the update out I quickly stopped the service manually like you suggested and it worked! Thanks for the tip, such an annoying caveat just to update the software. Truly appreciate your help and quick response.
