I dunno, for me it’s more like

So true.

We go to put the connector in, but find slight resistance. Fearing that we’re about to break something we assume the resistance is due to it being upside-down. So, we flip it over and try again.

And encounter solid resistance.

Now we flip it back, and push through the slight resistance to fully seat the connector. The previous flipping exercise did nothing more than calibrate our fingers as to what is ‘normal’ and what is ‘blocked’.

Alas, that calibration is lost each time.

Sometimes when I’m really tired, neither way works for me due to the fact that I’m trying to shove a USB into an HDMI port (They’re right next to each other and I don’t feel like looking at the side of my laptop to try and see where I’m plugging into). initiate coffee consumption

I’ve always said there are three ways to plug in a USB stick.

That is why we should demand a move to USB Type-C for everything.

Long live thunderbolt.

I’m so glad to see more and more of these on systems I’m working on lately.

Yup. That is 100% accurate. I don’t inow what witchery is in play here, but it’s mighty annoying.

You’re not wrong there.

Seen many a user here jam them in the Ethernet port. Now that takes some shoving!

And for that split second we’re encountering such resistance, we’re questioning our own skills as IT pros:

“If I can’t even plug in a flash drive on the first try, then what else have I been doing wrong all this time?”

Haha love this. I always tell users “USB? Yeah it’s the third way” which gets me confused looks, then they try and plug it in, and it’s always the third way

I usually find a slight tap on the back with a 6 lb. sledge hammer helps get past that bit of resistance.
