3 Spice ups

One of the issues many people face, myself included is being in the situation where all of your hardware, Hosts and SAN storage were refreshed in the last 2 years. What does Scale propose for a scenario like this?

Looking at what happened to VMware between Nov 2023 & Mar 2024, which I hope was some pricing mistake…

I would only consider “VMware alternatives” if they have

  • 5yrs or 7yrs terms (12 mths - 24 mths is too short)
  • supported by main server manufacturers like HPe, Dell or IBM
  • proven track record of stability (we are even considering using VMware 7.x or 8.x for the next 7 yrs or 10 yrs as it is so stable in most cases)

Hey @PatrickFarrell, thank you for your question and bringing up this widespread situation.

We do have a systems exchange offer and would be happy to discuss that option.
If you’d like to connect with someone on our team, feel free to book a meeting here.

Hey @adrian_ych, I can certainly understand the misgivings around all that has happened with Broadcom. That said, it is common for Scale Computing to offer 5 year terms on the SC// Platform, and even to extend that out to 7+ for the software side of things (as the HW lifecycle from our partners at Dell, Lenovo, SuperMicro, and HPe tends to align with the 5 year mark). As far as supported by server manufacturers goes, that same cast of vendors I just mentioned are our partners on the hardware side.

Our track record of stability is over 15 years long at this point and is borne out by our customer references and testimonials on places like Gartner Peer Insights. We would be happy to discuss any of your concerns in depth at your convenience as well as take a deep dive on all things Scale Computing and how we do what we do. If you’re interested, feel free to book a meeting with us.

And that’s where it gets a little frustrating. My VMware Servers are Dell R750s dual processor, with a ton of ram. A bit frustrating to have to replace them with other Dell servers with someone elses sticker on them. Likewise my Pure SAN storage is no longer in play.
