I have a Sonicwall TZ-series device that I am monitoring. Every day since installing Network Monitor I get an alert that my Sonicwall is offline at 2:30 pm est. The same alert also comes in at either 9:30 pm or 10:30 pm (alternates). The device is never actually offline (my users would scream if it dropped connection). Is anyone else seeing anything similar? I don’t remember if this started when I was on RC1 or RC2.

Thanks for the input but I don’t think there is a spot in Network Monitor to change the frequency. If I’m wrong on that, can you please give me the path to “the hidden stuff.” Monitoring our Sonicwall is very important as it provides an early warning if the device has gone offline overnight (gives me a chance to fix it) or potential bandwidth issues.

The questioner Jason is talking about “Spiceworks Network Monitor” and the person answering is talking about “Spiceworks”. There really is no granular customization in the Network Monitor except for all or nothing for that device. But I can envision more customization being built-in as time goes on.
With mine I have had no devices give a false positive that they are off-line…yet. I’m only doing about 15 or so devices. Last night I needed to reboot a Cisco 3560POE switch and I got an email from the Network Monitor that it was down within 30 seconds or less. That’s the only device I’ve had off-line in the last couple weeks.

Thanks Gary, I thought he and I were talking two different things but wanted to be sure. As far as the false positives, I’ve never had this occur with anything over than SWNM so I’m inclined to think its a software issue…

Hi Jason,
We’ve seen this issue before and thought we had fixed it. Ezra is looking into it again right now. As we just released 1.0, we will have to address this in a patch.

Thanks for the update and congrats on the 1.0 release! Would you like me to repost this in the new 1.x Beta group or just leave it here?
