I’m trying to recover some files on a USB drive for a friend.

I’ve used EaseUS Data Recovery and it shows the files it can recover but will only recover 2GB for free.

Does anybody know of any free data recovery tools to recover files from a USB drive or is my friend going to have to bite teh bullet and buy the full version of EaseUS Data Recovery?

Many thanks.

Photorec and Testdisk can do that. More fool your friend for not having a backup TestDisk Download - CGSecurity

Use Recuva, it is really good for this and it has a free version.

If you have a Linux system there are lots of free tools, I have used this one. - How To Recover Deleted Files From Any Drive in Linux | Tom's Hardware

I second Piriform Recuva as it’s pretty good, as well as using a Linux tool.

Thank you that worked great and I got them recovered for him. Yes I’ve told him to keep a backup going forward, especially seeing at its his wedding videos and photos!!

Thanks for the replies guys. I did try Recuva as thats usually my go to but it didn’t actually find anything in this case.

Thanks for the reply. I do have Ubuntu on a laptop so I would have tried your suggestion next if Photorec hadn’t worked.

Hi,

I would recommend you to try Stellar Free data recovery software . Like EaseUS, Stellar provides free data up to a certain limit, but if you upgrade from Stellar’s free version, it will cost less than the EaseUS software. It is much more affordable than easeus.
