Ok so I figured it was best to put this in a thread of its own, rather than having random conversations over various Spark! threads!

My last working day at my current employer is Thursday 27th June. This means it’s likely that I won’t be able to carry on with Spark! Certainly the 28th and then the first week of July will need to be covered. Hopefully rthelpdesk1 and jimender2 will be able to do this for me.

With that week I can gauge how my new job is going to affect my availability in the mornings. It might be the case that actually I can carry on as normal, but given my hours are going to be different I’m not sure on that.

I’m making this thread now because despite it being over 5 weeks, the time will come round very quickly and I’d rather everyone has time to find out. It also gives me plenty of time to sort a successor(s).

The last thing I want is for Spark! to die and if I can stop that happening I shall do so.

Not sure if you can pin this or something @fernandogerardo9344 so it doesn’t fade into the background, at least for 5 weeks?

I certainly hope you’re able to continue doing it at the new job! It’s not that I don’t enjoy rthelpdesk1 and jimender2’s Spark!s, I do enjoy those as well, but it just won’t quite be the same without ya!

Oh I’m sure we can find a successor if need be but let’s hope it doesn’t come to that. Obviously your job and family comes first so get that figured out… ACTUALLY YOU KNOW WHAT, SCREW THAT. Quit your job and just do Spark! please and thank you. We offer zero pay.

Of course I’m willing to help in any capacity, as I’ve echoed in the Spark! for today. That said, I think this is also a worthy opportunity to evaluate how it might be possible to balance the workload in the future. BC, you’ve done a great job carrying the torch, and are a role model for the rest of us in your diligence. That said, I wonder if it’s possible for us to consider balancing out the daily schedule, maybe doing a rotating schedule of one person does one day a week, two people do 2 days per week, etc… I’m inclined to agree, a 5 day a week writing schedule when we all work and live outside the realm of publishing is a hard push.

Penny for everybody’s thoughts… Also, just a spitball idea, is there any chance SW would be able to pick up writing one or two a week, leaving each of the original 3 to write one a week?

I like the idea of rotating the issues with different writers, I LOVE the diversity that BC brings (being that I am American) it’s always fun to try and figure out what in the world he is talking about!!
