Hi, not technically cloud, but is, so move if this is better elsewhere.
Situation is, a user was a few weeks from leaving, when our backup solution stopped backing up their laptop.
Because it wasn’t long til they were leaving, we decided to have a short term backup solution of documents to their Gapp provided Google drive, because this would then be a silent process, cause least disruption to a very busy lady as she tried to hand over her work, and we have control via Gapps console.
This is fine until she hands back he laptop. Our protocol is usually to take a backup of their user profile and any documents on there in case they are needed by other staff after she’s left. Usually a zip up and copy to backup server. Only I cannot take ownership of her user profile folder because of the Google Drive folder, which will not allow me as an administrator to take ownership of it’s folders, it flat out refuses.
I’ve tried taking ownership of the whole profile folder and saying inherit, it doesn’t inherit.
Same with ownership of the drive folder. I can get the Drive folder and the ‘loose’ docs in there, but the folder mapped to her Documents is locked to me, and i can’t open any of the loose files without giving myself ownership of each individual file manually
Failed to enumerate objects in the container. Access is denied
is the error I get.Anyone come across this before?

Have you tried Transfer Drive files to a new owner as an admin - Google Workspace Admin Help ?
You could also try logging in to the laptop as local admin, disable networking, and take ownership of the folders and files.
You could also remove the drive from the laptop, put it in a drive doc, and take ownership of the folders and files.

I solved it by changing AD password and logging in as user and copying it to zip as them.
Not ideal though.
