I have deleted all the volumes, and the DP pools, so there is nothing left to format. Format doesn’t erase the blocks of data, it just overwrites the directory tables and such.
You need to use something like secure erase that writes zeroed data over all the blocks.

ya, you have made it a little hard now, you will have to create a pool, format it, zero it, I guess you can leave it formatted at that point for the next guy…

PS: This machine apparently runs NetBSD underneath, so it might also have a SSH interface and a command line…

{"@type":"Person
somedude2
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/somedude2"}},{"@type":"Answer

First, you need to use the managment port, not the maintainance port.
You can use a regular ethernet cable, the port has auto switch capability and will do loopback swapping for you if you just want to plug into a laptop.
But..you need Internet Explorer 6.0/8.0 with Java to run their proprietary java applet to configure the machine…sigh
This machine is from server 2008 era…
Gory details if you want to go there: https://download.hitachivantara.com/download/epcra/df827325.pdf
I guess i should also point out that this didn’t delete the data, it is still there, you just can’t see it anymore, you have to do a hard erase on the storage volumes to guarantee that nobody can recover your data…
