We are looking to replace Varonis for on-site file monitoring. Netwrix keeps popping up, so I thought I’d reach out to the hive-mind and gather your experiences.

My site is so far away from being able to implement either Netwrix or Varonis but both are on my radar as future goals. Very interested to hear actual user thoughts on both products.

My current job we’re moving over to Netwrix from Varonis. So far we’re in the setup phase and the reports we do have setup I like. We also have it setup to monitor changes to our Sharepoint and mailboxes in O365. We still have some tweaking to do to get it where we like but I’d say I’m a fan so far.

Why are you moving away from Varonis? Are you able to tell us what the costs were for Varonis and now for Netwrix?

@lamacchiaitguy Hi and thank you for taging me!

First of all - check Netwrix Auditor for Windows File Servers - at least you will understand how product looks like, and it has 20 days of free trial, so can get aquainted with its functionality.

I’m not sure if it would be ethical for me to talk about the pros and cons of our products versus others, however I’d like to highlight several pros of Netwrix Auditor:

  • Most of Netwrix Auditor applications operate in agentless mode, so it won’t affect system performance.

  • It takes me around an hour to install Netwrix Auditor and get it started. Of course, deployment in complex environments takes longer, but it still quite straightforward.

  • We have wide range of predefined reports for each supported system, and have cross-system audit trail search, so you will be able to analyse your data shortly after configuration.

  • Netwrix Auditor can be integrated with Netwrix Data Classification , so you’ll be able to identify your sensitive files to mitigate your risks, and pass compliance more effectively.

  • Netwrix Auditor won’t require additional staff to maintain and operate. Learning curve is minimal.

  • Prices are reasonable.

If you interested, you can organize product one-on-one demonstration for you by following link above. Or you can PM me.

Also, check our products portfolio - perhaps some product is more suitable for your tasks.

@keithemery Unfortunately I wasn’t privy to the project as to why we’ve moved away from Varonis and the costs involved. But I can tell you that the cost is likely less and we’re able to audit more than just file servers for our environment.
