Welcome to a new week and a new topic.

Most of us (if not everyone us), will need to recommend desktop replacements and laptop replacements. What is your goto vendor for desktops and laptops? What models do you suggest as well.

5 Spice ups

Depending on budget and requirements, this recommendation can change, but Spiceheads have time and time again suggested the HP Elitebook x360 as a suitable laptop for their needs. It is a top contender in many threads.

I tend to go for HP, but I have deployed other brands too.

We are currently looking for small desktops for executives and conference rooms, have a look at the new HP Slice( Laptop Computers, Desktops, Printers, Ink & Toner | HP® Official Site ), as it seems to fill the bill.

I have been working a lot lately with HP. Though, i see some good brands come through my hands now and again, like Dell, Lenovo, Acer, Toshibia, and Asus. Recommendation wise, it completely depends on the need and the budget. I got my hands on an HP Elitebook x360 and love the little bugger. My next favorite is the Elitebook Folio. Compact and so darn light. I also feel okay to let me children use it every now and again, knowing they are built to last. Doesn’t pack a ton or horse power, but really makes for a great home use laptop. Compact desktop wise, the Elite Slice has impressed me. Spiceworks sent out a demo unit, and I am jelly that I don’t have one as my work PC. Good horsepower, but definitely a normal use or work machine (I don’t think this will be your machine to play Crysis). The Z2 Mini does look like it would fit for a little more horse power if that is your thing, but again, size the machine based on the need. Beyond that, you really get what you pay for (outside random awesome sales).

I tend to go with the HP Z line of workstations for our Staff. We have been using them mostly for our Engineers. We work heavily with Autocad Inventor and Solidworks CAD systems. I also have them in place for our Mastercam systems as well. They really have been performing quite well for us.

We go with HP and have had few if any issues over the years (yes, I said years). Last year, one ProDesk 600 G1 DM Business PC we have was in an extremely dusty environment causing heat issues. We cleaned and troubleshot locally, but in the end had HP come out and replaced components and it’s worked great in the (now cleaner) environment. I was impressed with the HP field support…I was ready to pack it up and ship it back, but they came to me.

Currently we are about to refresh a bunch of workstations and are currently selecting the ProDesk 400 G4 SFF Business PC. As for laptops, you cannot go wrong with any of the Elite products for security, weight, dependability and function.

@HP

HP as vendor. Prodesk 600 's as pc’s, Elite book 850’s or Z books as laptops and Prodesk 600 G2 and 3’s as mini pc’s and for workstation we take Z440’s

Late to the party here, and I know you’re looking for recommendations from other Spiceheads, but I’d also have a look at what Dell is offering! We have a ton of options for both laptops and desktops. I don’t know that I saw anything specific on what you’re looking for or a budget, but just going to provide some info on the options we’ve got below for you to peruse at will:
