Hi,

using Cloud Helpdesk.

Google tells me I need to implement 2 step verification. My Spiceworks account is linked to an account that uses Googleworks for email etc.

I am wary about implementing 2SV in case it prevents communication with Cloud Helpdesk. Has any tired this?

Cheers,

Hello @WorthingJon,

Thanks for reaching out—can you confirm if the Google Workspace account you’re referring to is the one that owns your Cloud Helpdesk instance, or just a user account that signs in to it? That’ll help figure out how 2SV might affect your setup and permissions.

{"@type":"Person
Christopher-Collings
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/Christopher-Collings"}},{"@type":"Answer
Hi @Christopher-Collings, While I cannot confirm nor deny any authentication challenges that may be built into Spiceworks by using Google authentication and 2FA, I can tell you about my implementation.

I have been around so long that third party authentication was never an option. So my original logins with Spiceworks are with a plain old email addresses and passwords. For my test environment, I use my Gmail info to log into my Spiceworks CHD. So I opened an incognito session and, instead of putting in my usual gmail.com username and password, I clicked the Google signon option. I already have 2FA enabled with my Google ID so, after putting in my password, I was presented with the additional method on my phone to validate the logon. After doing that, I logged into my lab environment without issue.

I then logged out, attempted with my standard username and password (for which my Google and Spiceworks passwords differ) and successfully logged in.

In my testing, enabling 2SV/2FA does not cause any adverse effects.

{"@type":"Person
clutka
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/clutka"}},{"@type":"Answer
Thanks Mainstrike.

Very interesting. You say you have been around a long time, me too. I must think about getting one of the mobile phone things you mention.

Meanwhile may be someone from support will chip in with an answer.

{"@type":"Person
WorthingJon
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/WorthingJon"}},{"@type":"Answer
