Looking for a way to stop the “new Outlook” from being on the taskbar when new user logs in. I ran across a video where the downloaded ADMX files for MS Office. I was not aware there was ADMX files for office. It has a policy that stops the upgrade, not sure it will stop the icon from being on the taskbar.
They put all the MS Office ADMX files loose in the same folder as the ADMX files for Win 11 on the DC. It seemed to work , anyone combined the 2 sets of files like this?
Thanks

There are some scripts you can run (Google is your friend) from GPO that will add/remove icons to the taskbar.

I expect you’d be surprised to know there are ADMX files for many 3rd party products too, then.

Interesting, because Outlook new is part of Windows 11.

You’re not clear where you are stuck though, is your issue more about importing ADMX files?

Thanks Rod, my concern is adding the MS Office ADMX files to the existing folder with the Win 11 files.

…why would you add ADMX files to the Win11 files? They’d be added to the SYSVOL folder at the DC?

Why?

Office ADMX files do not conflict with Windows, they’re named accordingly.

Perhaps you misunderstand their purpose or what they do.

…I think it’s a confusion on where to put them?

As you’re unsure of what an ADMX file is, I would also suggest to review whether your domain controllers use FRS or DFSR for sysvol replication. If you have old Domain Controllers, you need to migrate to DFSR, or you won’t be able to add newer DCs later. Migrate SYSVOL replication from FRS to DFS Replication | Microsoft Learn

Take note Microsoft is pretty sketchy around what versions of Office are supported with GPO’s and sometimes even though all the settings are not supported via GPO and your office type an individual setting is supported.. smh

also don’t forget config.office.com settings you can apply via policies.
