I’m just looking for some clarification.

Let’s say I have two OU’s, one with workstations and one with users.

If I link a different GPO to each OU, does the GPO attached to the workstation OU win or the one attached to the users OU win?

I know the group policy closest to the object wins, but in this case they are both equally close since they are in seperate OU’s.

The GPO results wizard will provide a definitive answer in your situation. But based on this , the computer GPOs have priority.

In this mode, when the user logs on, the user’s list of GPOs is typically gathered by using the GetGPOList function. The GetGPOList function is then called again by using the computer’s location in Active Directory. The list of GPOs for the computer is then added to the end of the GPOs for the user. This causes the computer’s GPOs to have higher precedence than the user’s GPOs. In this example, the list of GPOs for the computer is added to the user’s list.

If you’re troubleshooting, make sure loopback processing is enabled.
