Hello!
We have multiple users reporting that they cannot save signatures in Microsoft Outlook (Classic) when using profiles created with GWSMO. We have been able to replicate the issue on a machine with the following specs, and have not been able to resolve the issue by repairing outlook, modifying the signatures, or upgrading / downgrading pieces of software:
Edition Windows 10 Pro
Version 22H2
Installed on 9/11/2024
OS build 19045.5737
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19061.1000.0
Outlook: Version 2506 (Build 18925.20158 Click-to-Run)
GWSMO: 4.3.77.0
I’ve found older tickets that advise to use regedit to disable roaming signatures, however there does not appear to be an available path / key to do the same thing in Microsoft Outlook Classic.
Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!

Similar signature issues with GWSMO have been reported since 2023, often tied to Outlook updates or GWSMO incompatibilities.
GWSMO support has been inconsistent, with some users reporting delays or lack of resolution.
Try these steps and ensure you have administrative access and backups before proceeding.
1: Apply Registry Fix for Signature Handling:
- Open Windows Run and type regedit.
- Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Setup.
- Create or modify a DWORD value named DisableRoamingSignaturesTemporaryToggle.
- Set its value to 1.
- Restart Outlook and test signature creation/editing.
If that doesn’t work, trythe alternative Key:
- Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\Mail.
- Create a DWORD named DisableSignatures and set it to 0 to ensure signatures are enabled.
2: Recreate the GWSMO Profile
- Close Outlook.
- Backup existing signatures in C:\Users%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Signatures by copying the folder to a safe location.
- Open Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles.
- Delete the GWSMO profile.
- Run the GWSMO tool (right-click the GWSMO system tray icon > Set up Google Workspace Sync) and create a new profile.
- Do not import data from the old profile, as it’s already synced with Google Workspace.
- Restart Outlook, recreate signatures, and test.
3: Repair Outlook
- Try an Online Repair for a more thorough fix:
- Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, select Microsoft 365, and choose Change.
- Select Online Repair and follow the prompts. This requires re-signing into the Microsoft account associated with the license.
- After repair, restart the computer, recreate the GWSMO profile, and test signatures.
I hope this helps.
