I’m up and checking out the Spiceworks app on me phone, and realize the day of the year to show some appreciation to the Corps of IT intellectuals is upon us.

Give a shout out below to your buddies all across this wonderful globe that share the trials and triumphs in the IT trenches.

Be proud, stand tall and hold your head up as you are part of the fabric that keeps this world productive and moving forward. You deserve a pat on the back, a trinket of appreciation or a “lunch on me” from your user’s and staff…and if they don’t know to give it today, anonymous Post-IT notes in conspicuous places (like the bathroom mirror, refrigerator, water cooler or elevator button panel) may help!

You gals and guys are truly the Bomb.Com in my book and I love the community that has been built in this forum called SpiceWorks!

Well done everyone…WELL DONE!

Thanks! You are a week early with your wishes, though… With July having 5 Fridays, SysAdmin Day this year is the 31st.

OK, OK, I stand corrected, but man I was so excited…Don’t you guys ever celebrate anything for a week?!

I mean how long overdue is it that we should be able to celebrate for a week on recognition for a job well done?

On the other hand, it is good notice to get those anonymous Post-IT notes up! :stuck_out_tongue:

As this is Friday, it could be National Mongolian Fried Cucumber Day and I wouldn’t care, Happy Friday and in case I forget, Happy SysAdmin Day next week when it arrives!

I have! I had mixed feelings when I was turning 30 and I was talking to an older friend about it. He said, “Just think of it like you’re accomplishing something, like you’re graduating out of your 20s!” I really liked that thought and took that advice to heart. I celebrated graduating out of my 20s by going out to different restaurants and bars with a different group of people every night for the week containing my birthday. Typically it was just one or two drinks with interesting people, but I think I did have a few more on that Friday or Saturday night. In any case, I celebrated graduating out of my 20s for a week and it was fantastic and memorable way to enter my 30s.

You’re a week early, it’s one of those that changes year to year (the date, I mean). SysAdmin Day is always the last Friday of July so it will be next Friday, July 31st.

That said, I’d start paying attention to this page come Monday:

I feel guilty encouraging others to celebrate my role. Especially given the current circumstances where we’re lucky to have a paycheck.
