Slowly working on learning and building my PS script library. Have a few scripts I use to move user’s data and profiles around when we terminate them. Save me a lot of time.

Currently going through the “Month of Lunches” book on Powershell 3, but adding this information to my list.

I’ve been thinking about it lately and with this link maybe I will take the plunge.

Thanks James

I’ve started to pick up PowerShell in the last few months and it’s already saved me time making mass changes in AD.

The MVA video was a great help to get started and for everything else there is Google, err, I mean Bing.

I’m also a big fan of O’reilly books:

Have you looked at the Powershell scripts here in the community? Great resource, especially to learn from!

Was just going through tutorials for Powershell on youtube and so on. But this I must say this is wow!- very resourceful. Thank you James.

Nice resource, thanks. It’s hard to be a Net Admin without learning Power Shell these days.

Great resource! I’ve been trying to “learn as I go” with PowerShell since it was basically tossed in my lap with a here you go figure this out mentality. I don’t have time for more out of the office training since we are heading into a major domain migration/consolidation. I know I can leverage PowerShell, but am not entirely comfortable with it. Really appreciate the timely post!

Thanks James - these look interesting. Something I’ve found that helps with the learning curve is to replace the default CLI with Powershell on my core servers & just force myself to use it elsewhere.

I’m hooked. Thanks James.

PowerShell is definately important, going forward, to the IT Pro. Every major Microsoft application, along with the OS iteself, is now managed via PowerShell and that trend is unlikely to change. The phrase we coined years ago holds true all the more today: learn PowerShell or learn how to say “would you like fries with that”.

A.P., I have heard many good things about the Series of Lunches books, and I am awaiting to receive my copy of Powershell in a Series of Lunches. A lot of people I have spoken to liked the book, and it got you through a lot of stuff. I am also taking the online Microsoft Virtual Academy class right now, and it is pretty decent so far. They are hinting at a second class, and I will definitely be watching it.

Don Jones’ MOL book(s) are good. He writes well and provides good examples.

Now I know Don and I can say as a friend, he is a little dogmatic at times - you get a clear sense of what he regards as best practice and what he ignores. I am not always sure I agree with some of his views, but that doesn’t detract from the overall quality of the books.

I heartily recommend these books.

ALso, for those of you keen to learn more about PowerShell, see the PowerShell Survival Guide over on TechNet (hnet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/183.windows-powershell-survival-guide.aspx). I and others have spent quite some time adding stuff to this page so please enjoy. AND - if you have any comment s on the page, please let me know!!
