Hey all, long story made short, I had to rebuild the “Field Guide” in our CMS system. We had a weird issue before which is why I couldn’t update the Pure Capsaicins page before when Neally got it and I remembered this when Robert5205 became the 14th member.

I have backups of everything but had to nuke (hard delete) the old version and rebuild it. In that, I made some changes to it but I believe it’s working.

That said, it’s always good to get a couple of pairs of eyes on it so if you have a few minutes, go through this and let me know if you see any issues:

The section I’m most concerned about is the Getting Started area of the Field Guide since the rest are pretty stand-alone, simple pages:

Thanks in advance!

Taking a squint at it now  Will let you know if I see anything that pops out at me.

Looks good, Sean  I couldn’t really think of anything beyond what you have, otherwise, it would start to get a bit unwieldy and new folks might not read much of it, the old “TL:DR” mentality.

The getting started page looks good.

On the Field Guide Badge Section (see below), should there be a link to the community support team if someone needs help?

@brian2003 I believe they can just reach out to them directly so a link would not be needed in this case.

I think this looks good. Nothing to out of whack.

Thanks, I’ll go fix that now!

The ask a question had been a series of short articles. Now you have flattened it. I don’t care which kind of ordering you prefer. Just to annotate that you did change this organisation.

Yes, it’s working. I only don’t know if the working is as expected. I see that you have added a kind of navigation area which displays the topics of the field guides. It shows the ordered list of all available topics in the field guides. It does not highlight the currently displayed topic. Might help slightly in user experience and orientation to a few readers of that kind of mindset.

I’ve seen that you also changes the names of some other entry points. Release notes became renamed to updates. But the change there is more significant. I appreciate that you complemented the date info there. In the past, the release notes were chronically organized but only reporting day and month and NEVER the year. Now you have added the year information. That makes it better understandable, at least to me. Without the year, I was partially desoriented in that section.

That update was completed. Now it no longer displays the year of reaching the level in the overview. But that information is still available, needing now one further click. I had preferred the previous view but can live with that change as the info isn’t lost.

I don’t know what you consider an issue in that context. There is some inconsistency or partial repetition. That has been so previously and didn’t change now. And another inconsistency seems to have been added.

The alleged new inconsistency is the badge page . Its title got complemented by Got to collect them all! I don’t know what you want to tell with that addition.

  • Is there anybody who has collected all of them?

  • Do you invite to collect all of them?
I would recommend to either reword the addition or remove it. How about rewording to Collect as much as you can! The inconsistency is that you write correctly in the last sentence of the 2nd paragraph that many can no longer be earned as they are historic. If badges cannot be earned, they cannot be collected. Hence, it is no longer possible to collect all unless you already have earned all historic ones while they have been current.

  • Or is there a new badge exchange and trade of which I don’t know anything?
The (almost unmodified) repetition is an almost complete list in the field guides under who’s who and a partial repetition under community team.

  • Why don’t you remove that repetition and enrich the roles mentioned in the community team section by links to the corresponding who’s who section?
And I don’t know if there exists a complete list of roles. And you might consider to complement that list in that section. E.g. I don’t find a note on IT service providers, advocates and ambassadors if I remember correctly.
BTW, by scanning through badges, I found cobwebcleaner badge.

  • Is this a new badge category?

  • Where may I find further info about how to get it?

  • Why don’t I have such badges listed on my profile although I reported such outdated content in product review section and a few dead links on the Spiceworks web pages?

Thanks Sean for this - a great place I should know about.

Just an extra space here in pep per for some reason.

If we had cheerleaders, maybe we could get so much pep per post?

Points & Levels: How hot can you get?

Members in Spiceworks are categorized by Spiceworks Levels (sometimes referred to as Pepper Levels). The more you participate, the more points you accumulate, and the higher your pep per level!

Whoa, good eye! Even when I was looking for it after you pointed it out, I glossed over it. Fix’t!
