I now have my helpdesk portal setup, and it is functioning properly. My question is how do I setup the rest of my helpdesk staff so that they are logging into the same spiceworks session and can see the same tickets?

Will these people be admins or users? If they are going to be added admins you go under settings and user accounts and set them up there. If they are users you can use AD to sync their account info.

I have it setup to sync with AD, and regular users can login through the portal. The users I am concerned about will be Helpdesk admins taking control of tickets. I think I have it figured out. I just didn’t know if the helpdesk team had to install spiceworks on their desktops or not. If i have it right I just add the helpdesk users under settings, user accounts and then assign the access rights I want them to have, and then they just have to log in through the portal same as the normal users.

Spiceworks admins will have different log ins from there AD log in because they are admins. You can set it to be the same as their ad accounts, but the are really two different log ins. All help desk admins can gain access to the spiceworks server over the web interface. To my knowlege there is no limit to the amount of people logged on though the web portal. Web portal is your server name : the port you run spiceworks on. example http://spiceworksserver:80/login you can use ip address aswell. HTTPS is available, but you must have a cert for it.

They should be logging into a different screen then the end users. The userportal is different from the spiceworks server login screen. If you force them to log in via the userportal they will only see tickets. If that is the case you can create help desk only admins so all they see if the help desk overview and not a ticket per ticket list.

Ok so I’ve got that all figured out, but I orignally install spiceworks for testing on a win7 box, but now would like to have it on a server. Is there a way to migrate my spiceworks setup from the win7 box to a server?

Surely can. Below is a how to you basically just move the data base. Pretty easy
