i reached out to my Dell rep today and lo and behold, i had a new rep reach back informing me that, yet again, we have been assigned a new rep.

this seems to be something that occurs way too frequently for my liking.

that is all. i just had to vent,

I don;t think I have had a rep longer than 6 months.

yup … this is bad as it gets . same here … - in period of 12 months - 3 different reps

It really isn’t surprising with the size of their company, attrition, etc.

We do have a DELL rep, but I buy all of our stuff through our MSP and they deal with DELL directly.

I have talked to my rep 3 times, each time he thought it was his first time talking to me.

If we didn’t have a new sales rep about every few months or so I would think there was something wrong. Since I’ve been working in IT which is since February we have had out of all the companies that we deal with like 5-6 new sales reps at a minimum.

One thing I have done with companies I do a lot of business with is reach out to a sales manager and ask to be assigned a Rep who has been with the company a long time and is likely to stay. I let them know politely that if I can’t have a consistent rep I will go elsewhere where I can.

I have had the same rep for over a year now. However, he does have a “team” that seems to constantly mutate. I’m suppose to contact so-and-so for software, etc. I just always contact him and he usually acts as middle man or on their behalf.

True story, i actually switched reps mid phone call, managed to have a rep for all of 30 seconds before he was replaced. Talk about high turnover.

Ok, that’s a joke, but the turnover rate at Dell makes me feel like i’m still doing work with CDW :X

I don’t call that often anymore, but i usually get two calls in with a rep over the course of 6 months before i get reassigned.

same same…But I like their servers so I stick around

At least you had somebody contact you, although I’d like to know what you mean by “contact?” I usually just send emails for little things, but the guy suddenly disappeared a couple of months back. 2 weeks later we called to find out what the Hell happened, got us new reps for hardware and software, got the old lingering stuff sorted out, and been smooth since. I’m just wondering what will happen the next time one of them moves on.

Did you get a good vibe from the new rep?

That’s some crazy ranting there. Don’t hold back. LOL

I think this underwhelming rant deserves to be meme’d.

I think our dept has switched reps willingly about 6 times during the last year. It’s hard to find a good Dell rep, but we finally found one. Maybe we’ll get to keep him for a little while.

That is a GREAT suggestion.

I’ve had the same rep for the whole time I have been here, 2+ years, and I know he worked with the company for probably 5 years before that.

If your reps keep turning over it probably means you got a new guy who just didn’t last and then your account got passed to the next new guy. What I found during my time in sales and sales management was you ended up with extremes in reps, the people who stay a very long time because they can make it work and like what they do, and the people who turn over fast because it isn’t working for them. As I said above, ask to break the cycle, and be nice about it. Often if you express concerns and tell a sales manager you need less rep turnover to stay a customer they will make it work.

I’ve had that experience with most of the companies I do business with except Dell actually, I’ve had the same rep for 4 years. I definitely understand your frustration though!

Maybe they need to consider moving accounts that are getting screwed to the better reps. If they know that there is a cycle, maybe they should act to change it rather than acting to enforce it. There has to be some process for mitigating the turnover.
