Hi everyone, just a quick question. I am new to action1 and want to ask if each endpoint on my homelab will be updated directly from action1 online servers or downloaded first to one of my homelab server then pushed to each endpoint, just as WSUS does?

Thanks

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

Each machine needs direct internet access to the respective downloads - windows update, Adobe, Chrome etc. Action1 bundles and schedules the deployments, no central server is needed

{"@type":"Person
Rod-IT
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/Rod-IT"}},{"@type":"Answer

Action1 has many feature that make it the best and easiest to use patch management solution.

Note on those firewall config pages, that yes, this is true for windows updates, Action1 leverages windows update as its repository. However, the third party updates, patches, and software distribution all takes place from our servers (a1-backend-packages.s3.amazonaws.com) So the only thing you have to permit past Action1 servers is windows update servers.

Likewise once an update makes it in LAN, the agents will use P2P to share it, to conserve bandwidth, and to more efficiently distribute to other agents on the LAN.

If anyone would like to know anything more about Action1, feel free to message me at any time.

{"@type":"Person
mike-action1
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/mike-action1"}},{"@type":"Answer
Thanks Mike.
