To get a more SA feel for the matter.

How many IT support staff do you have to serve how many users.

We have a rather complex set up as a group of many companies and that adds to the load - different accounting packages, management packages…

At the moment it is the IT Manager/ Network admin and 2 techs supporting about 350 staff country wide with 60% of the staff at HO.

How many IT staff do you have vs users?

What / how many specialists do you have in IT department?

I’ve read a few of the larger community.
Idea is to get a feel what is acceptable in SA economy.

This link (from the 1st link in your post) is rather helpful. Addresses more the Key Performance Areas that need to be monitored to address the ratio in your own environment.

I run a small MSP business with a partner and between the two of us we manage about 400 endpoint spread over about 5 customers. Took us a while to get all our policies and systems in place but now work from home most days starting at round 9 and finishing round 15h30/16h00.

Most of the machines are running either Windows or OS X and we got rid of all our Linux servers other than hosting and PBXs.

We invested time in setting up N-Able and Group Policy in order to achieve this.

Had a look at N-Able and although it is a bit costly I do see it relieving allot of stress on support staff, especially if staff are distributed.
