how to clear software inventory? if we remove any software from any machine it is still diplaying in software inventory

2 Spice ups

We have that issue as well.

Adobe Creative Suite CS3 was fully uninstalled from 2 machines, but in spiceworks scan after scan still shows it as still being there.

Have you tried running something like Ccleaner’s registry cleaner or the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 on one of the suspected machines, then delete it from SW inventory and then rescan?

We have had the same issue. I thinking of doing a test. I have to wait for a system to be free for me to do this… Anyways, delete it from SW inventory, taking it off the network, running a scan then after the scan plug it back in and run the scan again… I am curious if it will still show the uninstalled software???

If someone has the ability to do this before try it and give us an update…

Thanks,

G.

If it still show’s the uninstalled software it’s pulling the information from somewhere that I haven’t figured out yet… maybe… wonderland?? who knows…

I would like to do the same as we keep all workstations as up2date as possible

still SW keeps showing it in software inventory as installed on that perticular workstation even though it is re imaged and so no single trace is left anywhere in that system

You might want to check the last scan date on the workstation. What I’ve been finding is that even though my network scans are running daily the installed software list is not getting updated because the last scan date isn’t getting updated. You could try doing a manual refresh of that machine or I’ve had some luck doing this from the Spiceworks server:

open a command prompt and cd to your Spiceworks installation directory bin folder:

run spiceworks-finder.exe find machinename where machinename is the name of the machine you want to inventory.

It will create a logfile for the machine and then should update everything if all goes well. If not, you’ll have a logfile to look at and see what happens.

I’m not sure if there is any long term effect to using the finder command in that way as I’ve just used it a few times to finish up inventorying some machines, so please use at your own risk, legal disclaimer, not liable, blah blah blah

Good luck!
