There are two methods to open or extract content from corrupted VMDK file on Windows platforms. VMDK File (virtual disk image file) is made by VMware software to store data of virtual disk. You can not delete, copy etc to your file once it is mounted with WinMount.

Step 2: Method1:- VMWare Workstation Player

Step1) Mount your VMDK file to windows with the help of VMWare Workstation.
Step2) After mounting, mapping of VMDK will be done using VMWare workstation functionality.
Step3) Now to use the file right click on the folder click on “disconnect virtual disk”. It will dismount the volume.

Step 3: Method2:- Using 7-zip

Step1) To copy the VMDK content open Archive.
Step2) Copy VMDK content to windows folder.

Step 4: Third party tool VMDK Recovery

Step1) Run Aryson VMDK Recovery software. Add VMDK File with the help of Add Files(s) Button.
Step2) Go to search to open your VMDK file and if you know the location of the file then simply browse it and select your file.
Step3) Now search the location where you want to save your VMDK File.
Step4) Click OK after defining the location in the system directory.
Step5) To start the searching operation go to search icon.
Step6) You will able to see the VMDK file in the list once your search operation is completed.
Step7) Click on VMDK file which you want to repair and then click on OK.
Step8) Go to recovery setting firstly select the mode of recovery and then define Auto Detect. Click on OK.
Step9) After completion of process click on OK.
Step10) Tick on OK to start the scanning process.
