Managing Android devices in the logistics industry is tough, especially with devices constantly moving across borders.
:persevering_face:Cross-border transit introduces unique security headaches:

  • Vulnerability to theft or loss: Devices can be lost or stolen during transit.
  • Data exposure: Sensitive shipment or customer data is at risk if devices are compromised.
  • Compliance issues: Adhering to varying data privacy laws across different countries.
  • Remote troubleshooting: Difficulty accessing and managing devices far from home base.

Our Android MDM solution provides the centralized control and robust security features you need.

But we always have these considerations…

  1. Is there like a “time” limit where device needs to authenticate before “lockdown” or “wipeout” is activated ?

  2. Can users request “lockdown” or “wipeout” (when user thinks device is lost or stolen)

  3. What if “lockdown” or “wipeout” is activated at a later time but device is “offline” ?

  • if the device was already target and stolen to be stolen (eg someone wants or planned to steal CEO phone)
  • device stolen but thieves realised device is goldmine as there are such “protection”
  1. How easy to restore device ? Like user reports stolen but “lockdown” or “wipeout” was activated but user power on phone then all data is wiped ?

Thanks for your asking. :two_hearts:

Based on your question:

Q1. Can you clarify your question about “time limit before lockdown/wipeout”? Do you mean: A time window after which the device locks/wipes automatically?
Or a time limit for how long a device can stay unauthenticated before action is taken?

Q2. Device users can send an email alert to IT to request a lockdown or wipe. Admin approval can be required, or you can allow users to trigger wipe/lock actions directly based on their role.

Q3. If the device is offline, the MDM command will be queued on the server and executed as soon as the device reconnects to the internet.
To protect high-value devices (like a CEO’s phone), set up geofencing and enable features like Secure Boot, full-device encryption, and USB debugging restrictions. These add strong layers of defense.

Q4. Yes—if the wipe command is queued and the device connects to the internet before a factory reset, the MDM will wipe it immediately. However, if an attacker factory resets the device before it reconnects, the wipe command is lost—unless the device is enrolled via Android Enterprise or Zero-touch, which enforces re-enrollment after reset.
