I have received this question today, the answer is as for Windows7 onwards despite the question asking specifically for Windows10 which may confuse. There is also another step to make it work which involves opening Device Manager and going into the View menu.

@sean-spiceworks - you made a couple of tweaks previously to this, but looks like you may need another one.
Maybe “What command in Windows 10, when run in the command prompt window, will allow hidden non-present devices to be displayed when using Device Manager?”
Getting kind of wordy and awkward, but I think @briser has a valid point.
Will the tweaking never end?!
I’m wondering if it should say from W7 onwards rather that W10? I also noticed when you actually do the correct command in W10 the option in Task Manager, View is not switched on until you do select it so I’m wondering if the command is relevant in W10 at all?
Looking at the reference, should we change it to:
What command in Windows 7 or earlier, when run in the command prompt window, will show hidden non-present devices when using Device Manager?

OK thanks Sean, it would appear from that link at least, the question is in fact wrong and that the cmd is not required post W8 onwards, only up to W7.
That being the case I would agree with your rewording.

Or just ditch the question entirely, seeing as it’s kind of obscure, and refers to obsolete operating systems…

Good call. I know there are still some organizations that use Win 7 still but pretty sure it’s something like 3% or so… so off to archive that question.
