Hyper-V server 2016 on Proliant DL380 G6

Hello,

Has anyone been able to install Hyper-V server 2016 on Proliant DL380 G6 ?

HP site seems to only have the drivers for up to 2012 R2. It will be great if I can use the older servers as a secondary host server for our new deployment.

If this is not possible I think I will use a 2012 R2 host. Any experience or thoughts are most appreciated.

That is an old server, I very much doubt that drivers will be available. the 2012R2 drivers may work with 2016, but they won’t be supported. If it was me, I wouldn’t be using that server in production at all, and, if I did, I would run 2012R2

I would suggest sticking to what HPE supports because there’s a better likelihood of it working well. You might be able to get 2016 installed and running, but I’d be concerned about stability, even on a backup host…

If it were a lab server, I’d say go for 2016, but not in production.
