Hey all,

I have 2 HyperV 2012R2 Servers that i used to manage remotely through the HyperV Manager.

Ive just had a new laptop and since then i cant connect to them for love nor money unless i add my domain user account to the local admins group on each HYV server - which i never set before!

Get the error telling me to check that the Virtual Machine Management Service is runing and that i am not authorized to to connect to the server.

Everything is on the same domain and IP subnet.

Using the same Domain user account as i always have done. (its a standard domain

Confirm that:

  • I am a member of the HyperV Administrators Group

  • COM Remote Launch and Remote Activation are configured for my account

  • My user account is member of administrator Role Assignments in the Authorization manager InitialStore.xml

HVRemote has already been run when i previously connected for years using my old laptop and as its the same domain account im using i dont see the need to run that again.

Anybody any other suggestions on how i can remotely manage these servers again via HyperV Manager without having to part of the local admins group on the HV servers?

Thanks

Pardon, but is Virtualization enabled in the BIOS?

In my laptop BIOS? No.

Does it need to be? - I’m connecting (trying) to remote HyperV Servers not local ones.

Thanks
