With no promise of compensation, I agreed to help someone who barely even works for the company anymore all because someone else who currently does work here (upper management) called and asked if I could talk to him.

Corrupt user profile service. No way I can walk this guy through the fix over the phone. He offered pizza, but I’m trying to avoid terrible food so I declined. I feel like I got suckered into it, but in reality I had the very clear option of saying no.

Well, here’s to hoping for some surprise compensation.

UPDATE: Turns out the guy was very nice and compensated me very nicely. AND I GOT BACK IN TIME TO EAT!

Change registry entry 8646541651894984blahblah.BAK by removing .BAK has always worked for me in the past.

I just tell people I charge $60 an hour TWO work on their crap. They all just seem TWO go away.
