Must be your network, mine’s fine

It was DNS again. The network allowed it to run wild. So it was the network.

But, seriously… I monitor all of our switches with Zabbix, I know how the network is performing all of the time.

Call me @****** (psycho) one more time, …
My monitors and internet connection and printer do not work.
Is it the VPN?
The network?
Maybe the Internet is out !??!

[After 5 minutes, determined user needs to reset the trip fuse on the $5 POS power strip.]

Heh, I guess that means you couldn’t just tell them to “turn it off and back on again” since it was all already off and wasn’t going to come back on until the power strip breaker’s reset button was pushed.

Yep, it’s the network responding to one of these three:

Way back when I was both the back end and front end support, and everyone at the company knew me, on any given day I’d get several
“Is there something wrong with the network?” calls. It could be where their computer wouldn’t shut down, or turn on, or the printer was out of toner. The universal term for that was something wrong with the network.

I have the Cherry Blossom branch version of this on my office wall. It’s helped several people here, both at work and home.

I LOVE it when I get that call.
Is our Network down?
No, why?
I can’t access anything.
(Check anyway) Nope, all is fine.
But I can’t access X site.
Can you access any other site?
Let me see. No, I can’t access XX site either.
That site is a part of X site. Try accessing Google, Microsoft, and ANY other site.
Yes, I can access those. So what is wrong with our network that is preventing me from accessing X site?
Absolutely nothing. Have you tried contacting that company to see if they have an issue with their site?
No, why would I? That is your job to make sure all sites are working.
(CLICK) I can’t handle this today or any other day.

I love those, I also love the ones I get where someone cant send us an email. Somehow it then becomes my issue that I need to diagnose why they cant properly read an Email Bounce back message to determine that they sent an email to the wrong domain. Or a host of other issues.
