Ok ive searched but im not satisfied.
My current company uses Teamviewer Corporate so all good, great product. No issues.
But i’m leaving to go and work for another company, so i’m removing the software from my PC when i work from home sometimes.
I’m looking for an alternative, so has an agent, you can restart and the agent is ready for a connection, either open source/free … not for commercial use, just for me to remote on to a few PC’s now and then…
Dont want to use VNC!
LogMeIn free is no longer free
any suggestions ?

Unless something has changed recently, Teamviewer is free for personal use. Just setup a new account.

Why not continue to use Teamviewer? It’s free for non-commercial use.

Teamviewer has a free non commercial version, any reason not to use that.
Edit: Well that’s a first, ninjaed three times over.

doesnt that have a 5 min timeout ?
No it’s untimed, the only thing is they popup a little message after each session reminding you it’s for personal use only.
Okay, that was creepy lol. You owe me a beer :D, or do I owe you one?

Not at all. That limit only comes up when/if/after your are flagged with the “Commercial Use Suspected” notices.
maybe i need to clear my registry out as im sure it kicked my session off with a 5 minute timer, think it still detects me as a commercial user by my MAC or something ?

You may need to contact them about that. If you are being flagged as being a suspected commercial user, there are a bunch of places you have to clean out including often having to change your computer’s MAC address, and they keep changing the location where they “hide” things. I’m sure they have a utility to reset everything if you explain the situation. Much easier than trying to figure out everything you need to nuke.

It only detects your account by what account you log in as. Create a free account, add your PC, and you’re good to go. They don’t track MACs or anything.
lol, yeah i’ve emailed them about this just a few seconds ago. Will see what they say, they must get this happen often and have a solution …
Also, for less than 10 PC’s you can check out Remote Utilities. I’ve used it a few times to get remote access to install our Teamviewer…it’s pretty nice.

I’m sure its not that simple, as i have remote on to a PC from a PC with a corporate account. Then logged into a private account to remote onto family pc’s and its seeing me as commercial… kicks me off in 5 mins on the private account…
must be something on the system

Not true. They track by MAC address, whether you create an account or not. Once you hit certain criteria, which is heavily weighted by the number of different IP addresses you connect to, your MAC address is flagged as a suspected commercial user and they start limiting what you can do.
Amen. I’ve had them black flag me so many times now that I’ve almost given up using the product, even though I truly am a home user with it - it’s not my problem that I happen to support several computers for family and friends (that I make nothing off of…)
If they’d offer a “super user” subscription to help me support them and remove the “label” while still being friendly to my wallet, I’d be willing to look beyond it, but honestly, I know there are other products out there that claim to do this… Teamviewer is established in my inner circles, and I just want to keep using it… catch 22.
Take a look at Remote Utilities:
-
Not VNC-based.
-
Free for business and personal use on up to 10 remote PCs.
-
No annoying “Buy me please” banners or “Commercial use suspected” or other limitations
-
Free technical support and public forum on the site
-
Unattended and attended access.
Hope that helps.
